My Best Friend’s Wedding

9 Jul

I have been away for so long! Thankfully, it was for an amazing reason I will never forget. My best friend got married! Hopefully, when she returns from her honeymoon she will have photos of the wedding up!

My mind has been going crazy with thoughts of love, friendship, and promises and their meanings. Life is so much more than designer labels and the newest makeup trend. It’s about having a great love and friends and family who are willing to come together to celebrate that. I have been so incredibly blessed to have been a part of this beautiful wedding. Johnathan and Jessica are the most wonderful couple and they set an example of love to everyone they meet.

Aren’t they a beautiful couple?!?! (Photo courtesy of: AYERSphoto like him on facebook!)

Here’s to Johnathan and Jess. They are such an amazing couple and they SO deserve to have each other and the love that just radiates from them.

AAAANNNNDDD…enough of the sappy…

Because I have been so busy this weekend fulfilling bridesmaid duties, I rarely had time to take photos, but soon I will post some of the bridal party photos and maybe a makeup tutorial on what I did for my makeup.

My bridesmaid shoes and bouquet. Aren’t they awesome!??!

Barbie Pink Lipstick!

11 Jun

Barbie was on to something when she always had those bright pink lips. I have been loving this color and I cannot wait to try out some new lipsticks. There are a few things to remember when wearing a bright lipstick like Hot Pink.

(Click photo for original site)

-Less shiny, more matte. A matte finish gives the lips a more grown up and sophisticated look. There are many types of lipsticks with a matte formula in them. However, if you happen across a shade of lipstick that you can’t bare to pass on, there is a way to “matte-fy” it. You want to blot the lipstick with a tissue then use a powder brush to brush on a small amount of transparent powder on. You don’t want to over-do it because your lips will end up looking chalky.

-Moisturize. Matte + Chapped lips = disaster. Make sure to take care of your lips before putting on matte lipstick. The finish will accentuate any dryness on your lips. One way to take care of dry lips is to lightly buff your lips with a soft toothbrush. This will help slough off some of the cells. Also, drink plenty of water to keep your body, and lips hydrated.

-Simple everything else. You don’t want to take any attention away from your gorgeous pout with heavy eye makeup. Keep the eyes simple so you can let your lips be your star. Also, a great way to frame your face is to fill in your brows with a pencil. I love the YBF eyebrow pencil in Universal Taupe. It looks really great with my brows and doesn’t look too light or dark. You can buy a pencil from Birchbox.

With these tips your lips will be looking more fabulous than Barbie EVER was! I haven’t been able to try and hot pink lipsticks, so if you have a favorite I would love to hear about it (and see pictures!)

Review: Garnier Skin Perfector BB Cream

25 May

Anyong!

BB Creams are the must have for summer. They moisturize and provide some sort of coverage instead of using two separate products to achieve the same thing. BB cream is the perfect solution for the summer. It’s light and quick.

I recently received a small sample of the Garnier BB Cream in the mail and of course I had to try it.

There were a few things that I liked about the product, however there were a few really important cons. I’m going to start with the positive.

  • I loved how easy and smooth the BB cream went on to my skin. It was really easy to apply and blended well.
  • The Garnier bb cream provided enough coverage for a day at the beach when I would want to look more natural.

However, there are a few things that I did not like and all in all deterred me from purchasing the product.

  • The cream was REALLY scented. It might be nice on days when you are sweating and tend to feel a little stinky, but this was almost as if I had poured a bottle of perfume into the cream as I was applying it.
  • My skin felt greasy and sticky. After putting on the BB cream my face felt pretty gross. I looked really shiny and it was as if I had poured greasy lotion onto my face. Even after a light powder I still felt pretty greasy.

I did not like the product in general. There were a few great things about it but I just couldn’t see myself using this again. Normally, I tend to have a pretty oily face so this product probably wouldn’t be my first choice, but for you ladies who have normal or dry skin this would probably be a great thing for you to try.

You can find Garnier BB Cream at Walmart for around $11.97

Or Amazon for around $10

I on the other hand will continue my quest to find the perfect BB Cream for my skin because honestly, who doesn’t love shaving a few steps off of their makeup routine?

Do you use a BB Cream? What is your favorite skin product for the summer? Let me know in the comments below!
