Still Alive!

27 Jun

Hello everyone!

I am so deeply sorry I have not posted in such a long time. Life has just been so crazy busy with work and then a camping trip with friends. Hopefully, I can get another post up within the next day or two before I head off to Indiana for my best friend’s wedding! (Lots of pics to come with that!)

I still love you all and hope you are having a fantastic summer!

Ombre Everywhere.

12 Jun

I love Ombre. If I could seriously ombre everything, I think I would. Lately, a lot of people have been trying out ombre looks so I decided to hop onto the bandwagon!

I choose to do two different looks.

Here is the first step. I lined my lips in a color then did a little blending.

Next I added the middle color and blended it out a little.

So that’s what I have for my first one. The second ombre lip look I did was personally the one I liked best.

(Macro sure doesn’t hide anything! YIKES!)

Yay for Ombre! I want to know what your favorite ombre look is! Post a picture or comment telling me what ombre things you enjoy!

Here are a few clothing examples of Ombre. (I totally wish I had all of these)

Forever 21 $19.80

Urban Outfitters $79.00

Forever 21 $19.80

Forever 21 OMBRE SUNGLASSES! Yes! $5.80

Barbie Pink Lipstick!

11 Jun

Barbie was on to something when she always had those bright pink lips. I have been loving this color and I cannot wait to try out some new lipsticks. There are a few things to remember when wearing a bright lipstick like Hot Pink.

(Click photo for original site)

-Less shiny, more matte. A matte finish gives the lips a more grown up and sophisticated look. There are many types of lipsticks with a matte formula in them. However, if you happen across a shade of lipstick that you can’t bare to pass on, there is a way to “matte-fy” it. You want to blot the lipstick with a tissue then use a powder brush to brush on a small amount of transparent powder on. You don’t want to over-do it because your lips will end up looking chalky.

-Moisturize. Matte + Chapped lips = disaster. Make sure to take care of your lips before putting on matte lipstick. The finish will accentuate any dryness on your lips. One way to take care of dry lips is to lightly buff your lips with a soft toothbrush. This will help slough off some of the cells. Also, drink plenty of water to keep your body, and lips hydrated.

-Simple everything else. You don’t want to take any attention away from your gorgeous pout with heavy eye makeup. Keep the eyes simple so you can let your lips be your star. Also, a great way to frame your face is to fill in your brows with a pencil. I love the YBF eyebrow pencil in Universal Taupe. It looks really great with my brows and doesn’t look too light or dark. You can buy a pencil from Birchbox.

With these tips your lips will be looking more fabulous than Barbie EVER was! I haven’t been able to try and hot pink lipsticks, so if you have a favorite I would love to hear about it (and see pictures!)

Father’s Day Gift Guide

5 Jun

Father’s day is getting close! So it’s time to let our dads know how special they really are to us. I’ve compiled a little helpful list for daddies of all types. (Click photos for links)

Sporty Dads:

My dad is REALLY into golf so this is the perfect gift for him. It’s Garmin’s Approach S1 North America. This baby comes preloaded with TONS of U.S. and Canada golf courses to help dad track his progress and shots. Plus it’s a pretty cool looking watch.

Is your dad a baseball fan? Why not get him a pen made from stadium seats?

How about a dad who loves golf and barbeque?

Is your dad a little less sporty and a tiny bit nerdy?

Roboto USB Hub$28.00

A dad who has a mix of different interests?

Fashion DON’Ts: My Observations From Work

30 May

I’ve seen a great variety of people in the years spent working. I currently started working again (took off 6 weeks because of a surgery) and realized that a lot of people in this town (po-dunk, kansas) do NOT know how to dress. I’m not usually one to snark at someone for expressing their style but sometimes I would like to be spared.

A few examples (I don’t have pictures, thankfully)

White T-shirt + NO BRA = UGH

 – I’m sure this can be a rather exciting outfit, especially for anyone on spring break. However, being over 40 and going into public like this is NOT a good idea. Your friendly cashier does not want to get a glimpse of what your ta-ta’s look like under that fabric so please wear a bra.

Shorts that don’t cover your booty

-Again this is probably a great look for a wild spring break (or a stripper) but I am not a fan of walking behind someone and seeing the ends of their cheeks hanging out of their shorts.

There are PLENTY of other outfits that need to be locked away forever, however I’m not fond of recalling every horrifying outfit ever encountered. I’m sure I’ve committed a few fashion crimes in my time, hopefully they weren’t harmful to anyone else.

Do you have a memory of a particularly horrifying outfit? Let me know in the comments below!
