Spring and Summer are seasons of love! There are so many weddings happening. Weddings are so much fun but they can also be stressful, even for a guest. After scouring the internet for proper etiquette and guest attire, I’ve come up with a few simple guidelines and tips so you (the guest) will enjoy the celebration!
Casual Day/Outdoor Wedding
These types of weddings are my favorite to attend. The guests are less worried if their outfits are formal enough and more focused on helping the bride and groom celebrate. There are so many options for dresses that would work in a wedding like this.
These weddings are so much fun. The atmosphere is so breezy and refreshing. However, a beach wedding does not mean flip flops and shorts. You want to wear something that is light and breezy, especially on a hot day. Another thing to remember is sand and heels do not mix. Wear a cute sandal so you don’t end up tripping in the sand.
If the wedding is in the evening aim for a more formal type of beachy dress. Also, keep your hair and makeup simple. Loose waves and dewy skin make for a great look.
There are many different types of evening wedding. So, some key things to help decode the dress code: look up the wedding venue, if it is in a really upscale place, that is your chance to turn up the glamour volume. You can also go a little more richer and deeper in the color of your dress too. Just make sure to stay away from red as it is an attention grabbing color and it’s the bride’s day.
A few last tips:
Avoid wearing all white, you’re not there to upstage the bride.
Try not to wear tight, revealing clothing. The couple is going to have their entire family there. So ask yourself before the wedding, Would I want grandma to see me in this?
If you’re still at a loss for what to wear, ask the bride! She will totally know what kind of attire she is expecting from her guests.
Weddings should be fun for you and the couple! Just remember that no one is going to be critiquing your dress because hopefully all eyes will be on the lovely bride!
Let me know if you’re planning on going to a wedding and what you are wearing! I would love to see pictures!
